Thanks a lot for uploading this tutorial.

Just one question.. how did you color the picture before #1 ? Did you use the bucket to fill it or use brush to do it ?

Which brush (air/water color/normal brush/others) and the density?

it doesn't matter how you base color the picture
you can use bucket but you would have to use brush to refine it

i use the default setting for all my brushes

I see..

I have tried to use brush/airbrush, but it doesnt look like an anime picture. Only when I use bucket will it looks like an anime picture, but when I erase the unwanted part, the edge always looks zig-zag (if 100% density) or hazy (if I lower the eraser's density). It is really disappointing and baffles me.

What happened between 4 and 5?

you basically apply 3 and 4 on all parts of the hair

5 is just the end result

I'm using photoshop.

I think there's a big gap between #4 and #5.
I always have a problem getting to #5 with all my colourings.

I would love to see a video of you doing this.

I for to mention that the finish art is beautiful! Love

You can use camstudio or hypercam. I would really appreciate it, if I could see how you got there.
Did you add more shadows?

lol thank you

and thanks for suggesting those programs
i'll make a video as soon as i have the time for it

i didn't add more shadows, but i always refine the shade from time to time to make sure the shadow can still be seen
if it looks like i added more shadows, it's probably because parts of the hair strand outlines are there or the shading

I guess I'm rather not too much into too intense light on hair (like after use of linear dodge / dodge tool)

however this is great and surely helpful tutorial

thanks for making it, chisa-chan

Needs some retouching, but the first steps of the technique were great!
